Join fellow star-gazers at the free public night at Fountainwood Observatory on the Southwestern University campus on Friday, from 8 to 11 C.D.T. The evening viewing begins with a waxing crescent Moon in the southeastern sky and brilliant Jupiter in the southern sky. By 8:00 PM bright stars such as the Vega, Deneb and Altair, the stars of the Summer Triangle, begin to appear. By about 9:00 PM objects such as the two million light year distant Andromeda Galaxy become well placed for viewing and by the end of the viewing session the magnificent double cluster in Perseus will be high enough to observe.
Physics Department faculty and talented observers from the Williamson County Astronomy Club. Fountainwood Viewing Nights are always FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. The Observatory is located on the northeast side of campus adjacent to the Rockwell Baseball Field.
